J-Petal Japanese Crepe & Poke in East Orlando

By Kismet Kohn

J-Petal Japanese Crepe and Poke is a Japanese restaurant located in East Orlando. The restaurant specializes in different types of crepes, poke bowls, Thai rolled ice cream, bubble tea, and more!

Crepes

The crepes can either be a sweet treat for after the meal or a savory entree, and there are about ten you can choose from. Each of these are very unique, such as the Tokyo Sakura crepe which comes with a macaroon on top!

If you like matcha I highly recommend the Matcha Chocolate Truffle crepe, but if you’re more of a traditional sweet crepe kind of person definitely order the Hawaii Sunset crepe. This crepe comes with strawberries, bananas, mangos, whipped yogurt, cream, pistachio, and of course, Nutella.

If you want a savory crepe don’t miss out! They have quite a few that include shrimp, crab, or Spam. Their beef crepe may sound a little different but it is delicious and a nutritious entree.

Poke Bowls

Want something a little more filling? The poke bowls are delicious and healthy entrees you can have before grabbing your crepe! The menu includes about 10 bowls to choose from, if you don’t want to make your own.

There’s a bowl for everyone, including vegetarians and vegans, with each having the perfect combination of sweet and spicy, and soft and crispy!

My favorite bowl is the Salmon Lover bowl which comes with salmon, green onions, edamame, corn, cucumber, masago, sesame seeds, onion crisps, tempura flakes, and a special ginger sauce on top.

If you have a poke bowl you want to try that’s not on the menu, don’t fret! You can make your own bowl with the choice of up to three types of proteins in one bowl and endless toppings.

Onigirazu

One of J-Petal's Japanese specialties are their Onigirazu, which are also known as Sushi Sandwiches. These are made with Spam, egg, and one of them are even made with Hot Cheetos!

Thai Rolled Ice Cream

The Thai rolled ice cream is a perfect ending to your meal with a cold and unique finish. You can make your own flavor of ice cream by combining the different ingredients offered, which are then poured onto a frozen metal plate and rolled up into your own unique ice cream rolls.

If you’re in the mood for a sweeter ice cream, try adding in some chocolate and watch the workers craft your ice cream right in front of you! If you’re leaning more towards a fruity ice cream they can do that as well! There are pretty much infinite possibilities when it comes to this ice cream which makes it great if you want to try something different.

Drink Offerings

J-Petal offers different drinks at the restaurant, including bubble tea, light bulb drinks, and of course your usual soft drinks.

The bubble tea menu is extensive, including any drink from milk tea to fruit tea, even the slushies can have boba added to them! If you like tapioca boba definitely try it out, if you want to discover something different they also offer jellies and popping boba you can get added to your drinks.

The light bulb drinks are also very unique, and I’ve never seen them offered consistently anywhere else in Orlando. You can choose any tea or drink to put into the light bulb-shaped cup for a fun sipping experience!
