Ocoee Plans for Regional Sports Complex

By Roger Jimenez

The city of Ocoee is taking major steps toward building a massive regional sports complex that could transform the area economically and socially. On October 8th, the city approved measures to allow the developer, Montierre Development, to proceed with acquiring the remaining Ocoee land for this 150-acre mixed-use sports project, setting the stage for significant regional growth.

Details on Location and Impact

The complex will be located near the intersection of Apopka-Ocoee Road and Fullers Cross Road. Ocoee officials predict property values near the development will rise by 18-40%, with anticipated tourism revenue between $500 million and $900 million annually. While no groundbreaking date is set, the developer aims to start construction in 2025 and finish by 2027.

The annual economic impact is projected to be $540 million, signifying the complex’s importance for the community. As of now, Montierre Development has already acquired 132 of the 150 acres for $9.5 million.
