Otto's High Dive

By Yasmene Warren

Look out Orlando! There’s a new place to wine and dine in town, and it’s certainly going to give all the other spots in the Milk District a run for their money: It’s Otto’s High Dive.

What is it?

Located on East Robinson Street in Orlando’s Milk District is Otto’s High Dive, a Cuban-inspired neighborhood rum bar and restaurant. This location is a fairly new addition to Orlando’s restaurants as it had its grand opening in December of 2022.

Although it hasn’t been around that long, it has been a huge hit among restaurant goers and bar lovers alike. Otto’s High Dive operates Tuesdays through Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Food

Otto’s High Dive’s menu is filled with unique dishes inspired by Cuban cuisine.

Starting from the top, you can order raw or baked oysters. Beneath its “platos” section, you’ll find cold dishes that include crab salad, crudo, cocktail and hearts of palm. You can also order hot dishes such as ropa vieja, mojo chicken, old clothes and media noche. Try the Florida Orange Tres Leches, flan and cinnamon bread pudding if you’re in the mood for something sweeter.

The Drinks

If your energy is on the lower side, perk up from Café Abundancia’s selection of Cuban-style coffee. Order espresso, cortadito, colada, cappuccino, cafe con leche and nuclear colada.

Otto’s High Dive is a bar, so of course, there’s bound to be a special drink menu. This bar serves both shaken and stirred cocktails, some of which include the Floridian Slip and Pandamerican from the shaken section and the Bronze Titan and Sink Florida Sink from the stirred section. There’s also a blended and frozen section where you can try a banana coffee, froquito and mojito.

The rest of the drink menu includes daiquiris, fine wines, cold beer and Otto’s Booze Free section!

The Mood and More

Otto’s High Dive keeps its atmosphere very intimate with dimly lit spaces and ceilings lined with greenery.

You can book a reservation ahead online to sit closely with your friends, or you can walk in and wait for an opening at the bar.

This bar offers a warm and welcoming environment, and its decor definitely allows for Instagrammable photo opportunities! Parking is pretty slim at this location, so carpooling is a must, and while walk-ins are allowed, you may have to wait for an opening as Otto’s High Dive is a hot spot.

Overall

If you’re searching for a place to eat that offers both a unique dining and drinking experience, then Otto’s High Dive is for you. It’s calm, cool, and its menu offers dishes you just won’t find anywhere else! Next time you’re in the Milk District, be sure to stop by!
