Persimmon Hollow Brewing

by Holley Long

Breweries abound in Orange County, but if you find yourself in the southwestern area of Winter Garden, there’s one you should check out. After nearly a year in business, Persimmon Hollow at the Flamingo Crossings Town Center has been a lively addition to the still new Horizon West community.

The Brewery

Persimmon Hollow at Flamingo Crossings is one of four locations for the central Florida-based brewery. Founded in 2014, the brewery is a place that welcomes all people to enjoy good drinks, good food, and good company.

Persimmon Hollow is also dedicated to bringing the community together, hosting Puzzles Entertainment events throughout the week, including Jukebox Bingo and Trivia Thursday. As someone who participated in Trivia Thursday, I can attest that it’s not only fun to show off your knowledge, but also hilarious to hear the answers get wilder with each round of brews.

The Brews

Speaking of brews, Persimmon Hollow’s tap list includes nearly two dozen craft beers each day, from ciders to stouts. As a light beer gal, I am particularly partial to the Blood Orange Wheat, but if you prefer a porter, 3 Wise Guys gets heavy praise.

The brewery uses as many locally-sourced ingredients as possible when making its beers, and some of them have grown so popular that you can buy a pack at each location, or find different beers on tap at other local restaurants and bars.

The Food

Beers aren’t the only thing on the menu at Persimmon Hollow. The brewery’s food menu includes everything you need for a game day spread, including nachos, burgers, wings, and flatbreads. The brewery also offers vegan and vegetarian options, like jackfruit birria tacos and the shroom philly.

If brunching is one of your favorite activities, you’re in luck. Persimmon Hollow serves the Get Weird Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, with staples like french toast and avocado toast on the menu (pro tip: ask to make your avocado toast “boujee” to take your meal to the next level). And, bringing the conversation back to drinks for a minute, you can enjoy a flight of four 5-ounce pours of different mimosas, from classic O.J. to Earl Grey Lavender.

Overall

The Flamingo Crossings location of Persimmon Hollow is located just minutes from the Walt Disney World Parks, making it the perfect place to grab a drink and a bite to eat after a long day at the theme parks.

Open seven days a week, there’s never a bad time to stop in for locally-made brews and delicious food. Make Persimmon Hollow your next place to try in Orlando, and remember to follow their motto: drink sensibly, but get weird.

Horizon West

Horizon West is an unincorporated but quickly growing community near Winter Garden and Windermere. Divided into several villages where many shops and restaurants are within walking distance, the community offers the feel of a small town to residents while also providing city amenities.
