Thrift shopping has been elevated from an acquired taste to a multimillion-dollar market, and Orlando holds a #4 ranking among the Top 50 U.S. cities to find quality secondhand shops.
A growing market
Used apparel and furnishings have long been valued by vintage style seekers, but they also aid the fight against disposable fashions brought on by fast-changing trends. And inflation has only stoked the interest of shoppers hoping to stretch their dollars.
A 2026 report by online consignment retailer ThredUp found the national secondhand apparel market has grown an average of 7.3% annually since 2020 and is expected to reach $78.8 billion by 2030.
Ranking the retailers
Furniture brand Joybird posted a Top 50 list of U.S. cities with the best secondhand shops, weighing factors like price points, number of shops per capita, and average Yelp ratings.
Of the Top 5 cities, Atlanta, GA boasts the most thrift stores per 100,000 residents while Riverside, CA had the highest Yelp reviews for the same category. Orlando did not score exceptionally high in any single category, but held strong rankings overall with consistency in item quality and shopping experiences.
