Winter Garden Heritage & Music Festival

By Holley Long

Many cities and towns in Central Florida are steeped in a rich history, and Winter Garden is no exception. The Winter Garden Heritage and Music Festival is a great time to learn that history, while also listening to local bands and enjoying special entertainment - coming up this weekend on February 11th

What is it?

The Winter Garden Heritage and Music Festival is an annual event that’s put on each year by the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation. It’s free to attend, and there are festivities held all day that are meant to entice people of all ages.

Along with educational opportunities and shows, the festival has food vendors, a kids’ zone, and, of course, the city’s weekly Saturday farmer’s market.

The Fall Heritage and Music Festival

The festival was last held in November of 2021. Fall-themed balloons decorated downtown areas and the stages of live performers, and the festival hosted educational exhibits that showcased Winter Garden’s history.

Sam Williams Little League Complex and Veterans Memorial Park also held family-fun activities like baseball, pickleball, and other field games to keep energetic children busy for hours.

This Weekend!

February 11 marks this year’s festival, and it will celebrate Winter Garden’s 120th anniversary. Walking tours of historic downtown are on the agenda, as well as special exhibitions of artwork, photographs and historical artifacts at several museums and galleries.

As for entertainment, you can enjoy the sounds of Tampa musician Selwyn Birchwood, Orlando band L & G Live, and more, and you can check out strolling performers like jugglers and power skippers.

If you bring kids, there’s fun for them, too. The church will host several Back to the Future-themed performances, and Blippi, a popular children’s entertainer and educator, will be on site to make children laugh and learn.

Overall

There’s no better time to learn about the history of Winter Garden than at the Heritage and Music Festival. As mentioned above, the festival is free for all to attend, and it runs all day long. So, if you’re out and about on February 11, stop by the festival for a bit to get a dose of education, great entertainment, and more.
