Drink Wine from Around the World at Grape & the Grain Wine Bar

By Kismet Kohn

The Grape and Grain Wine Bar is an independently owned wine bar that serves a variety of drinks from around the globe, offering food, music, and culture to Orlando residents.

The Menu

The menu at Grape and Grain includes mostly wines and beers, but the charcuterie board is to die for! It comes with a selection of meats and cheeses perfectly paired with any wine on their menu.

Their wine is what they’re known for, and each bottle has been hand-selected from vineyards across the world. You can either buy a six-ounce or nine-ounce glass of wine and if you love what you’re tasting, you can even buy the bottle! Don’t fret about not being able to find anything to your liking, they serve all types of wine, including sparkling, white, red, rose, and wine cocktails.

I’m a huge fan of Pinot Grigio, so of course I had to taste test their Pinot Grigio from Italy, and it was delicious! I was astounded at how good the glass of wine tasted since the price was reasonable.

If you’re not a wine fan, they also offer some craft beers that are locally sourced as well as some seltzers. I’m personally not a beer fan, but I can get behind their Original Sin Cider. If you want to go with a classic, they also sell Heineken and White Claw.

Events

The wine bar is pretty large and includes an inside seating area, as well as a back porch, making it the perfect place to host a private event! They hold events pretty often, and have an outside DJ stand for parties and gives local DJs the opportunity to come and perform. Some nights you can catch live music by local artists, and almost every night there’s a new vendor with an activity to participate in.

When I went to the wine bar, Bubbles and Blooms was offering a succulent activity, where you could pick a pot and arrange their succulents however you like!

Some nights there are learning activities, such as how to do calligraphy while sipping on their tasteful wine. As if live music and DJs aren’t enough entertainment, don’t miss the burlesque shows that are offered occasionally on their back porch. If you’re more in an academic mood, they also host occasional trivia nights.

The only weekly “event” set in stone are the food trucks, which come to the bar every Friday and Saturday night. I highly recommend checking this out so you can grab some local food, paired with some wine from around the globe!

The Atmosphere

The Grape and Grain Wine Bar has an artistic atmosphere, like most places located on Mills. Inside, the walls are lined with art by local artists that you can buy if you fall in love with a piece. Some pieces are portraits, others landscapes, but all of the pieces are beautiful to look at while you sip on your drink. The furniture is more rustic which matches the atmosphere of their back porch.

The porch has high top seating and tables to sit at with a covering to protect you from the weather and sun. To make sure no one gets too hot on a summer day in Florida, every few minutes the covering will release a spritz of water to rejuvenate you and stop you from overheating.

Overall

If you want a relaxed, fun night out, definitely visit Grape and the Grain Wine Bar. Make sure to check their Instagram if you want to see if any events are happening at night, and if you want some good food, save the trip for a Friday or Saturday!

Mills 50

Grape and Grain Wine Bar is located on Mills 50, a district known for the independent businesses that line the streets. Art is everywhere you look in this district, so if you enjoy a more indie, artistic feel, definitely take a look around the area! Mills offers more affordable houses than surrounding areas as well as some apartment complexes that are reasonably priced. Ivanhoe village is just a few streets over and offers even more businesses to check out, such as the Hammered Lamb and the Greek Corner.
