Lake Nona Announces Site Plans for New Lifestyle Shopping Center

By Jessica LaVigne

Owned by the Tavistock Group since 1996, we've seen the Lake Nona region grow exponentially over the past 20+ years. The 17-square-mile community has one of the best infrastructures Orlando has to offer, including five neighborhoods, state-of-the-art hospitals,  Boxi Park, the Wave Hotel, and so much more.

Site plans to further expand Lake Nona by adding a lifestyle shopping center on the west side of the region were just submitted yesterday morning by Tavistock Development - which will be named Lake Nona West.

Lake Nona West will include 405,000 square feet of open-air shops and ground floor parking, with elevated architecture and greenery to match the aesthetic of the area. The new project, planned across 54-acres of land, will also include outdoor entertainment spaces, similar to that of Boxi Park, and a collection of art installations throughout.

All of this will be just minutes from the heart of Lake Nona, as well as the Orlando International Airport and newly opened Brightline Station (which will begin trips to South Florida and back in September).

We're not sure what new restaurants and shops are expected to tenant this new space, but announcements on this will occur later this year.

“We are in advanced conversations with several sought-after national and local brands, along with best-in-class shops, restaurants, specialty grocers and personal service operators that will continue to serve our growing Lake Nona community and the broader southeast Orlando region.”

Skipper Peek, Senior VP of Commercial Development

There's still a bit of time as Lake Nona West is still in the pre-construction phase, but it is scheduled to break ground next year and open in the Fall of 2025.

More Projects in Lake Nona

Lake Nona has also seen some other recent developments, including new Class A+ office buildings within its Town Center. These will serve as the home base for SIMCOM, a leading aviation training company, welcoming 10,000 pilots annually to the facility and Lake Nona region.

“SIMCOM’s new training center will bring people from all over the globe to Orlando for pilot and aircraft maintenance training, creating an additional impact on our community’s economy and in our local businesses where visitors will experience the world-class hospitality for which Orlando is known.”

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer

There are still plans for many more projects in the future, including a new elementary and middle school, library, and a space for the UCF College of Nursing in Medical City.
