Details of Orlando’s $400 million Camping World Stadium redesign were featured Tuesday in new renderings by project partner, DLR Group. Construction is currently under way on the major overhaul, set for completion before the 2027 residency of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars.

An iconic identity

Camping World Stadium opened in 1936 as Orlando Stadium. Name changes and renovations later followed with a $207 million reconstruction in 2014 and $60 million in additional upgrades in 2021. The project page on the DLR Group website describes the current redesign as a "new architectural identity" with luxury upgrades and modern additions.

A retractable stage will efficiently accommodate large concert events.

An expanded capacity and flexible stadium configurations will accommodate sporting events at college, professional, and international levels.

The 650,000-square-foot renovation offers a range of new amenities, design enhancements, and infrastructure improvements that include the following:

  • Expanded seating bowls: Reconstructed east and west upper decks, plus a brand-new north upper bowl, boosting capacity to at least 65,000.
  • Modernized exterior: A sleek metallic façade featuring integrated hurricane bracing, blending structural resilience with a striking aesthetic
  • Premium fan experience: New luxury suites, upgraded concourses, restrooms, and better life-safety systems—all tailored to modern expectations
  • Retractable stage pocket: Installed in the south bowl, enabling large-scale concerts and live entertainment with flexibility
  • Structural & life safety upgrades: Full overhaul of building systems to meet current codes and long-term performance goals

Project funding comes from the Orange County Tourism Development Tax and was approved by county commissioners in 2024.

Stadium naming rights are also expected to change as the contract with Camping World Holdings Inc. expired in 2024.

NFL and college game schedules

The Orlando Real reported in March that Camping World Stadium will host the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2027 NFL season while the team’s home stadium undergoes a $1.4 billion upgrade. The Camping World renovation was a major factor in the approval of the residency and is expected to be finished before the start of the 2027 season. The Orlando Real also reported city approval of a plan to upgrade streets leading into west Orlando and Camping World Stadium that will be complete in July of 2027.

As construction continues, Camping World Stadium’s usual college game schedule will go on as planned later this year.

The Pop-Tarts Bowl will be played on Dec. 29 and broadcast on ESPN at 5:30 p.m.
The Citrus Bowl will be played on Jan. 2, 2027, and broadcast at noon on ABC
The Florida Blue Florida Classic game between Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman University was confirmed by Florida Citrus Sports and will be played on Nov. 21 and broadcast on ESPN+ at 3:30 p.m.
