The Courtesy in Winter Park

By Kismet Kohn

If you want a night out with some friends without going Downtown, check out The Courtesy. This speakeasy themed bar offers a variety of bites and craft cocktails, and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the mood-lit atmosphere.

The Atmosphere

The Courtesy is a smaller bar where “The Pleasure is Ours, The Courtesy is Yours”. The walls are lined with carefully laid bricks and wood, and the warm lights give it a cozy feel where you want to sit down and grab a beer or wine. Inspired by evolution and traditional cocktails, this is an independent bar that feels like its own world.

The Food

The Courtesy offers many small but filling food options that pair perfectly with their cocktails and wines.

If you want some cheese and meats to go with some of their delicious wines, check out one of their seven cheese and meat boards. I recommend their Bar Swine Board because it has a little bit of everything, and includes some grilled bread.

If you’re looking for a heavier food option, the Bar Swine Burger is excellent, as well as the Strawberry Toast. Once you’ve finished your meal, I recommend getting the Caramel Cream Pie, it’s the perfect flavor combination to hit your sweet tooth.

The Drinks

If you’re looking for wine, their extensive wine menu offers everything from red to white, and bubbly to dry. Most of the wines require you to purchase the entire bottle, but some give you the option of just a glass. For the quality of the wine, the prices are relatively cheap as well.

Beers are also offered, and include the common beers seen in most bars, as well as some local options to choose from. However, their cocktails are what I truly recommend. They have their standard cocktail menu, and a revolving menu that changes every once in a while depending on the season.

Their standard menu offers a cocktail for every liquor, so if you’re looking for a tequila or a bourbon drink they’ve got you covered! I highly recommend the Daydreamer, with vodka, spiced cranberry, lemon, and elderflower syrup, making it the perfect sweet drink with a slight kick. Currently, their revolving menu features some unique drinks, including two frozen cocktails.

Events

Every year The Courtesy holds four unique events - Cocktail Classes, the Annual Kentucky Derby Party, the NYE Party, and Miracle on Orange.

The cocktail classes are weekly occurrences, and are private lessons with limited space. If you want to learn how to craft cocktails just as amazing as the ones offered at The Courtesy I highly recommend signing up!

The Annual Kentucky Derby and NYE Parties are ticketed events, but include new featured drinks and activities to participate in.

Miracle on Orange is a holiday-themed takeover and occurs for about a week during the holiday season. The Courtesy brings out their holiday decor and offers holiday drinks and food during this time!

If you’re holding an event and want specialty cocktails or any of The Courtesy’s delicious food, look no further! They also offer catering with a menu tailored to your taste.

Overall

If you want to have a fun night out with friends, or want to meet at this intimate location on a date night, definitely check out The Courtesy. The tables and bar seating are perfectly arranged for a sociable evening and the drinks and food are delicious and one of a kind.

Winter Park

The Courtesy used to be located in Downtown Orlando, but they moved to a new location near Downtown Winter Park. This location is perfect because it offers many other places to visit before or after the bar. If you want a full meal before heading to the bar, check out Park Avenue which is just a few blocks away and has many local restaurants. Downtown Winter Park is known for its brick roads and large houses and townhomes.
